Dr. Merritt details an Old Testament story of the national of Israel from 2 Kings. God did the unexpected and the impossible. Sending an invisible angelic army, he caused the Syrian
army to turn tail and run, leaving behind all of the food, money, and clothing
the nation needed. Yet, no one would have ever known it if four lepers had not
had the boldness and the temerity to discover what had happened, and to make it
known. But because they did, an entire nation went from famine to feast. Now keep in mind that Old Testament miracles are like New Testament parables. They are earthly stories with a heavenly
meaning. If you will look closely you will see yourself somewhere in this
miracle.
"This world is hungry today, and the reason why it is
feeding on filth, and pandering in pornography, is because there is a famine
for the Word of God. Lost people are hungry, and they are trying to satisfy
that hunger with silver and sex and success and sports. But Augustine was right
when he said, 'The heart is restless, and it will not rest until it finds its rest in God.'" --Dr. Merritt
